Haha thanks — took me a while to get chatGBT to render this approximation of what I was looking for … an alternative version had the small guy standing on the giants typewriter, reaching up and shaking his giant hand.. thought that was kinda funny too
Not very long, I'm an avid reader. I'm constantly subscribing and unsubscribing as I find people I like or wean off writers I'm not as interested in anymore.
It doesn't need to be 50, just find what you like to read organically and let that drive who you follow!
This is great, Patrick. I didn't know about the browse tab.
Perhaps worth noting, you can see people's subscribers and who are paid subs. I think it's a decent idea to follow people and engage with the paid subs of writers you like.
As well, it's been helpful to connect with other writers and recommend each others publications so we grow together.
Curious, how does one do paid ads on other publications?
Hey Chris - just found this tool Reletter.com that looks to be great for finding publications to do paid ads. I'm going to experiment it with it over the next month as a way to try and grow FeedbackFreak.com by partnering with writers who write for writers.. yike.
Anyway, you can sort by audience and term/category and can even automate reachout/pitches to those publications.
Great post. The Naval Ravikant quote “It’s all about combining things you’re not supposed to combine…” really resonated with me.
I think the art in that comes with combining two things that are entertaining / interesting. Circus bear on a unicycle is fun. Short rib calzone probably gets a second look on a menu. Peanut butter steak, maybe not so much.
Absolutely love the image

Haha would love to see that one
So glad this was helpful!!!! And sorry for stressing the shit out of you 🤓
Elle! The gal, the myth, the legend! Super helpful haha and yes no problem, my stress dissipated.
While I have you, I’m very curious how long it took you to find your ~50 writers that you really love reading on Substack?
